This new version of the free flash slideshow wordpress widget is again the result of the feedback of one of you. So don’t hesitate and post your praise, questions, comments and critics. It all helps to make a better product!
So, what’s new? Version 1.2.1 resolves a problem with ‘Wordpress its own directory‘.
The following information can also be found in the ‘readme.txt’ file that is included in the zip-file.
Installation
Installation is easy. Just download the free flash slideshow Wordpress widget, and install and activate it using the ‘Plugins/Add New’ menu in your Wordpress admin panel.
Once installed, you can add instances of the widget to your website through the ‘Appearance/Widgets’ menu, and change the settings by editing the added widget. Take a look at the CCSlideShow user guide for a complete list of all parameters. This info is also available in the ’settings documentation.txt’ file that is included in the zip-file.
You can add as many slide shows as you want. Each slide show has it’s own set of settings.
To make the images appear in the slide show, you need to set the first two parameters:
path
Has to contain the absolute path (it has to start with ‘http://’) to the slides folder, WITH the final slash.
For example:
Use this setting when you have disabled ‘Organize my uploads into month- and year-based folders’ in the Wordpress miscellanious settings, or are using a plugin that allows you to upload the images to a single folder.
Images
Version 1.2.1 of the slide show doesn’t load all images present in a folder. Instead you have to specify the image names one by one in this parameter.
Has to contain a list of the image names, one image per line.
If you didn’t use the ‘path’ setting, or only put a part of the path there (because you’ve enabled ‘Organize my uploads into month- and year-based folders’ in the Wordpress miscellanious settings, or anyway the images are stored in different folders), then you’ll have to add the (missing part of) the path to the image names.
License
The flash slideshow Wordpress widget is released under the GNU/GPL license.
The CCSlideShow.swf flash file included in the widget is released under this license. As long as the flash file is a part of the CCSlideShow Wordpress widget, you are free to use it as if it was released under GNU/GPL as well. If you want to use it outside of the CCSlideShow Wordpress widget, then you’ll have to abide the rules of this license.

Hi, first of all thanks for this.
I have a few questions, which may be misguided, if os please let me know.
I want to create a flash slideshow on my wordprss site- Ive found this and it looks like a good solution.
However at first glance, It would seem that it can only be called as a widget? Can I not call this direct within my code? I dont want to set up a new widget area on the site, and want this used as a header peice (which isnt widgetised).
I can created a flashslideshow from scratch (in flash) but this will allow easy editing of it, so is the ideal solution (especially when I hand over control to others). It seems like the only way to edit/control the settings is within the widget area, I guess it is a widget! So as i say probably misguided here. But thought id ask anyway?
Did yoou ever get the borders? I can build these for you in return for you work and help if you want.
Hi,
i’ve installed your plug in for WordPress, created a folder called “images” inside the plugin folder, the images are in this folder (called images).
The absolute path in the widget is “http://www.lasiciliainmoto.it/wp-content/plugins/creative-clans-slide-show/images/”, and the files are one on each line, without path, only the name, for example pippo.jpg
no data in caption section, all settings standard…
Here there are the messages in the home page…
Warning: fopen(/wp-content/plugins/creative-clans-slide-show/xmlconfig2.xml): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in C:\Inetpub\vhosts\lasiciliainmoto.it\httpdocs\wp-content\plugins\creative-clans-slide-show\creativeclans-slideshow-widget.php on line 402

where is the error? The widget is looking for an xmlconfig2.xml
thanks for help…
fabio
Hi Fabio, thanks for your interest in the slide show. Next time though, please ask support questions in the support forum.,
Those errors indicate that the wordpress widget can’t create the two xml files it needs inside its folder (httpdocs\wp-content\plugins\creative-clans-slide-show\). Without these files the slide show won’t work, so you’ll have to make sure the permissions for that folder are set correctly. Try 755 (this should work) and if it doesn’t work, then try 777.
You can also wait for the next version of the slide show (currently under development), which should eliminate the problem completely. I can’t tell you yet when it will be released though.
755 & 777 done…
it don’t work.
Some error codes…
I’m sorry, this plug was what I need for my blog.
Ok, I’ll wait for next release.
Bye
Fabio
Hi, I have the same question as phil above. I have a LEGO site with lots of pictures of them. I would like to display it on my side as slide show. But having them at sidebar (as widget use for), it will be too small for viewers.
Any idea how to put it on the content page instead of side bar?
Anyway, this is a great plugin. Thanks.
Hi Greg, read this. It should answer your question.
If you don’t want to put it in a post, then you’ll have to create a widget area in your template.
I am looking to start a post with a slideshow — Will this work to rotate through 9 photos added in my NEXTGEN gallery??
I want the slideshow in my post – NOT on my sidebar with all my other widgets ………
If so, how do I do this?? I do NOT know how to write code……..
Thanks so much
