It would be great if you could do something like this in your WordPress Widget:

Take a look at http://www.nst.com.my/. Look at the middle top of the page and you will see an image gallery right underneath the section tabs. (3rd column from your left)

What I like about it:
1. Note the page numberings right above the images (1-10). Readers are able to choose which image they want to see.

2. Images can be of different sizes and images automatically adjust at every image rotation/selection to the box that it is in.

3. Note the placement of the captions and how generous it is in length.

4. Note that day, time and date are allowed to be used.

It would be nice if your update to the Widget can be something like this. I bet it will be extremely popular.

Hi Gopal,

Thanks for the suggestions. Let me comment them one by one.

1. The numbering, and also previous, next, play and stop buttons (is short: pagination) is something that you can vote for right now in the poll you can find on the front page. So it's something that I'm already thinking about to implement in a next version.

2. This is more complicated. In the site you link to, the captions are places under the images, my guess is it's a javascript slideshow. So the adjustment of the caption placement is automatic. It follows the height of the images. My slideshow is a flash object. It has a fixed size. You might make the background transparent, and not use a border, and then it might be useful to have the caption placement follow the image height. But otherwise it wouldn't work. I'll have to think about this, but I'm not convinced of its usefulness. For now, you'll have to edit your images so they combine well together in a slideshow.

3. I already commented the placement of the captions at point 2. The length of the captions in my slideshow is not limited. You can make them as long as you want. Unless you write so much there's no more space in the slideshow window of course Wink

If the caption doesn't show up entirely, try setting a 'text bottom margin' for the caption.

4. You can write day, time and date in the caption… Just kidding! I'll have to think about this one. Why would you want to show this? What day, time and date would that be? Something you'd want to set for each slide?

It might be nice to be able to use some text markup in the caption (like bold, different colors, etc). No idea if that is possible. I'll have to look into it. If it can be done, I might add it to the poll.

I must say, you take this very seriously and I like it.

If possible, please take a look at my site http://www.vanityshack.com.my. I would very much like it if your WordPress CCSH Plugin is similar or better than the one at http://www.nst.com.my.Wink

Here is my proposition: I am willing to pay you USD$50 to tweak your slideshow plugin to be almost similar to the one at http://www.nst.com.my. I love everything about your slideshow. I just would like the adjustment of the caption placement is automated and follows the height of the images. The pagination like the one on http://www.nst.com.my is another point that I am fond of too.

The day, time and date is actually for each Gallery that I wish to change everyday on my site at http://www.vanityshack.com.my. It is intended to show my readers that those images are fresh and new and latest to date.

What say you? Deal?Cool

Pagination is definitely going to be implemented in the next version of the slideshow. I don't know yet if that'll be free too, or if I'll make a pro version. Anyway, you can always donate $50 Wink

I've been thinking about the caption height. For now, you could set the slideshow's background color to black, that way the space between the image and the caption will be filled. It may not be ideal, but it's a solution.

You can't register on the forum (yet). The fact that there's a message inviting you to register even if you can't, is a little bug in the forum plugin I'm using.
