Good news: version 1.3 of the Creative Clans Slide Show will be released Friday 5 February!
Work on version 1.3 of the slide show has made considerable progress these last few days, at least the do-it-yourself version and the Wordpress widget. These two are in the final testing stage, and the basic documentation is almost complete.
Unfortunately, the Joomla module, which seemed easier than the Wordpress widget, has proven to be more complex. And to avoid other delays, I’ve decided not to release all three together. The Joomla module will be released later, when it’ll be ready.
I had hoped to release the new slide show with some nice border images, but nobody has sent me any, and I have had no time to make any. So if you want to use that feature, you’ll have to make them yourself. Of course, until friday, and also after that day, you are more than welcome to send me your artistic efforts.
As said, the basic documentation is ready. And I think it is quite clear and complete. But of course I may be wrong. It might be completely obscure to someone that doesn’t know exactly how the slide show works. So don’t hesitate to let me know if something is missing, or if something isn’t clear. And if someone wants to make a tutorial with screen shots, or something like that, please send it to me and I’ll publish it on the site. I had wanted to make one myself, but there are not enough hours in a day…
So, the waiting has almost finishes. Three more days, and then the new version will be there. With these great new features.

When the development of the new version of the slide show started, it wasn’t meant to take such a long time. But along the way, the amount of work grew and grew.
Right now, the do-it-yourself version is ready and tested. But the documentation has to be finished before it’ll be released, to avoid a flood of support questions.
Once the do-it-yourself version has been released, work on the Wordpress widget and Joomla module will start.
If you would like to try out the new version without waiting for the documentation and the official release, please let me know.

Are you wondering how things are going with version 1.3 of the slide show? The answer is that things are going just fine! But development isn’t finished yet. Not only are new features being added, but the whole slide show is being restructured to keep it small and fast. So please be patient, and soon you’ll be able to download version 1.3
In the mean time, check out the current list of new features, and leave a message if you got an idea that you would like to see implemented.

Development of version 1.3 is proceding, and we’ve added some new features: loading all images in a folder, and creating the xml files “on the run” without saving them (this should resolve the permission problems lots of people had with the joomla module and the wordpress widget). Check out the current list of new features, and leave a message if you got an idea that you would like to see implemented.
Great news: a 5 euro donation arrived last week. Our thanks to the donator (you know who you are). It feels great to get a donation, it means all the work isn’t for nothing. Please keep donating, and we might arrive at the amount needed for the zoom and rotating effects.

As stated in the previous post, one of the new features of version 1.3 of the slide show is the ‘image’ border type. Of course, it would be very nice if the release of the new version would include some cool border images ready to use.
So if you have some artistic urges, and want to give us a hand, this is your opportunity! Create a smashing border image, and then send us a message.
If your border will be included in the version, we’ll make sure to give you the credit for it.
The border images will be released under the same license as the slide show itself, or a less restrictive license if you choose so. It won’t be possible to release them under a more restrictive license.
To state the obvious, the border images must be transparant (except for the border itself, of course). That means gif or png. Try to make them beautiful, but small (file size). As far as height and width are concerned, it would be nice if you could make a set of different sizes.
Do you like our slide show? Then this is your opportunity to give us something back!

We announce the start of the development of versions 1.3 of the slide show, the Wordpress widget and the Joomla module.
If you have a feature you would like to see implemented in the new version, speak up now! Let us know about your ideas/wishes by leaving a post in the new Feature request forum. Don’t forget to read the current list of new features before posting, we might already have put your request on the list.
And there’s no need to ask for zoom effects and rotating transition effects. They are the big winners of the new features poll (see to the right), but due to a lack of donations (only 2 on more than 11.000 downloads, and that money has already been spent on hosting and some other expenses) won’t be implemented.
Unless, of course, some donations start coming in.
