This new version of the free flash slideshow wordpress widget is the result of the feedback of one of you. So don’t hesitate and post your praise, questions, comments and critics. It all helps to make a better product!

So, what’s new? Did you notice that your slide show disappeared when you enabled permalinks? Well, it doesn’t anymore! Version 1.1 is permalink compatible!

The following information can also be found in the ‘readme.txt’ file that is included in the zip-file.

Installation

Installation is easy. Just download the free flash slideshow WordPress widget, and install and activate it using the ‘Plugins/Add New’ menu in your WordPress admin panel.

Once installed, you can add instances of the widget to your website through the ‘Appearance/Widgets’ menu, and change the settings by editing the added widget. Take a look at the CCSlideShow user guide for a complete list of all parameters.

You can add as many slide shows as you want. Each slide show has it’s own set of settings.

To make the images appear in the slide show, you need to set the first two parameters:

path

Has to contain the absolute path to the slides folder, WITH the final slash.

Use this setting when you have disabled ‘Organize my uploads into month- and year-based folders’ in the WordPress miscellanious settings, or are using a plugin that allows you to upload the images to a single folder.

Images

Has to contain a list of the image names, one image per line.

If you didn’t use the ‘path’ setting, or only put a part of the path there (because you’ve enabled ‘Organize my uploads into month- and year-based folders’ in the WordPress miscellanious settings, or anyway the images are stored in different folders), then you’ll have to add the (missing part of) the path to the image names.

License

The flash slideshow WordPress widget is released under the GNU/GPL license.

The CCSlideShow.swf flash file included in the widget is released under this license. As long as the flash file is a part of the CCSlideShow WordPress widget, you are free to use it as if it was released under GNU/GPL as well. If you want to use it outside of the CCSlideShow WordPress widget, then you’ll have to abide the rules of this license.

As anticipated earlier today, version 1.1 of our free flash slideshow Joomla module is being released!

This module lets you use version 1.2 of our slideshow in your Joomla 1.5 websites. Installation is easy. Just download the latest version of the free flash slideshow Joomla module, and install the it in your joomla admin panel.

Once installed, you can set all the parameters through the module admin page. Take a look at the CCSlideShow user guide for a complete list of all parameters.

You can have more than one slide show on your pages, simply by copying the module.

The joomla module is released under the GNU/GPL license.

The CCSlideShow.swf flash file included in the module is released under this license. If you want to use it outside of the ccslideshow joomla module, then you’ll have to abide the rules of this this license.

In this new version, it will be possible to specify the target window of the link. Until now, clicking on the slide (assuming links are enabled) always opened a new window. But from the new version on, you’ll have the possibility to choose from four possible targets:

- the current frame in the current window

- a new window

- the parent of the current frame

- the top-level frame in the current window.

Have fun! And please continue to write your problems, comments, ideas.

Just download the zip file, and install the module in your joomla admin panel.

As long as the flash file is a part of the ccslideshow joomla module, you are free to use it as if it was released under GNU/GPL as well. If you want to use it outside of the ccslideshow joomla module, then you’ll have to abide the rules of this this license.

I hope you like your christmas gift. And remember, if you want to make my Christmas a merry one too, all you have to do is click the button on the right.

In the first version of the slide show (version 1.0) there is a huge bug: if you choose a border style that isn’t ‘blurred’, no slides are shown. So the border styles ‘none’ and ‘solid’ result in a square with the background color you set for the slide show.

If you downloaded the slide show, tried it out with border ‘none’ or ‘solid’, and then deleted it and searched for another, better, slide show elsewhere: I’m sorry. I should have tested it more before releasing it. Mind you, I did test very much. And at some point in time those border styles did work. But one of the last second changes I made messed things up good.

Well, anyway, all you have to do to get the new, working, version of the slide show, is download the zip file, unzip it, put the content on your website, go to the index.html, and voilà, the demo slide show should be visible.

Of course, you can copy the code from the example index.html present in the zip file to your own pages, and make the slide show show your slides instead of mine. You can change many parameters, to make the slide show blend into your pages, and to get the look and feel you like.

All of this (and more) is explained in the documentation that is included in the package. You can also read it online (and comment) here.

As stated, the Creative Clans Slide Show version 1.1 is free for almost every use (license info and disclaimer here), but donations are gratefully accepted.…
